Holistic dentistry with Dr. Dalia Milani goes beyond simply repairing individual teeth. It views the mouth as part of a complex overall system and, in addition to function and aesthetics, also takes material compatibility, freedom from inflammation and long-term stability into account when planning treatment.

As part of biological dentistry, we examine existing restorations and possible sources of strain in the jaw area. Whether metal-free concepts or controlled amalgam removal in Vienna, we combine modern dentistry with selected complementary methods to provide treatment that is as well tolerated and sustainable as possible.

Services & benefits of holistic dentistry

Holistic dentistry, also known as whole-body dentistry or biological dentistry, extends conventional treatment to include systemic aspects. The aim is to take into account possible interactions between the mouth and your overall health.

This is not alternative medicine, but an extended, responsible approach to treatment: biocompatible materials, inflammation-free restorations, minimally invasive techniques and safe amalgam removal.

Holistic dentistry combines aesthetics with biological compatibility. This includes, for example:

  • Safe amalgam removal: A protective protocol with rubber dam, suction and air filtration to keep mercury exposure as low as possible.
  • Biocompatible materials: Use of metal-free ceramic or composite solutions that are well tolerated by the body.
  • Supportive detoxification: Complementary micronutrient concepts intended to support the liver, kidneys and gut.
  • Interference field diagnostics: Searching for chronic sources of inflammation in the jaw area that can affect your general well-being.
  • Gut-mouth axis: Taking the microbiome into account in the case of gum problems or inflammation.

Why holistic dentistry can be worthwhile

Teeth are connected to the rest of the body via the nervous system and the bloodstream. Complementary medicine approaches also describe connections via so-called meridians. A non-vital (“dead”) tooth, chronic inflammation in the mouth or poorly tolerated filling materials containing metal can place a lasting strain on the body and may, under certain circumstances, affect your general well-being. For us, holistic dentistry means looking for possible causes of your complaints rather than just treating symptoms. Particularly if you suffer from unexplained tiredness, autoimmune processes or histamine sensitivity, a biological look at your teeth can help to identify possible connections.

How treatment in holistic dentistry works

At our practice, treatment in holistic dentistry follows these steps:

  1. Holistic initial assessment: We discuss your medical history and current complaints and analyse your micronutrient status.
  2. Diagnosis & planning: Drawing up an individual treatment plan that includes complementary methods.
  3. Gentle treatment: Carrying out necessary restorative work (e.g. amalgam removal) with comprehensive protective measures such as a rubber dam and air filtration.
  4. Aftercare & detoxification: Accompanying support with vital nutrients intended to help the body with elimination.

Duration and costs

The duration of treatment in holistic dentistry depends on your individual findings and, depending on the scope, usually ranges from 45 minutes to several sessions.

As biological and metal-free concepts sometimes go beyond the standard services covered by health insurance, for example due to special protective measures, high-quality materials or extended diagnostics, we draw up a transparent treatment and cost plan after the initial consultation.

Who carries out the treatment?

Treatment is coordinated under the direction of Dr. Dalia Milani. She combines the dental procedures with her medical background knowledge of metabolism and detoxification. This means that your general health is also taken into account during your dental restoration treatment.

Frequently asked questions: Holistic dentistry

How does biological dentistry differ from conventional dentistry?

Biological dentistry pays strict attention to the compatibility of materials and to the interaction between the oral cavity and the body as a whole. Wherever possible, we avoid metals and also use complementary methods.

What protective measures are taken during amalgam removal?

We work with a protective protocol consisting of a rubber dam, powerful suction and air filtration so that, as far as possible, you do not inhale any mercury vapour or swallow any particles. On request, we support the treatment with micronutrients before and afterwards.

Can dental problems cause tiredness?

That is possible. Chronic inflammation in the jaw area can put a strain on the body and contribute to tiredness. We clarify whether there is a connection through a careful examination; other causes should be investigated by a doctor.

Is detoxification after amalgam removal advisable?

Amalgam removal eliminates the source of exposure. From the perspective of holistic dentistry, mercury residues may remain in the tissue. Dr. Dalia Milani therefore offers accompanying detoxification, which is intended to support the natural elimination pathways of the liver, kidneys, lymphatic system and gut. We will discuss whether this makes sense for you at the initial consultation.

How do I prepare my body for dental restoration treatment?

In preparation, it may be advisable to correct proven deficiencies beforehand, for example in iron, vitamin D or omega-3 fatty acids. A good supply of nutrients can support wound healing and your well-being after the procedure. Dr. Dalia Milani will be happy to advise you on this in person as part of an individual micronutrient analysis.

Dental prosthetics

Bridges or other types of restoration, such as partial or full dentures, serve to close gaps functionally and to avoid uneven strain. Precisely fitted dental prosthetics protect against consequential damage throughout the jaw area.

Dental crowns

If a tooth is badly damaged, a crown provides a stable and long-lasting restoration that restores the shape and function of the tooth. High-quality materials ensure that the restoration blends in harmoniously.
